The Cielffa members met for their Annual Meeting in Brussels on 15th October 2019. It included a visit of the European Parliament and a discussion with the Head of the Office of Mr. Dennis Radtke (CDU), German Member of the European Parliament. Mr. Rey-Baltar as Cielffa President introduced the CIELFFA association and the European cold rolling industry. He emphasized our interests such as a fair supply chain, a balance with powerful buyers and suppliers and the need for good conditions for growth and competition.
The meeting itself took place in the premises of Eurofer/Estep. Dr. Peters, Secretary General of the European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP), presented the services and projects of this platform. The work in the working groups and projects is currently dominated by issues such as CO2-neutral production or technologies, energy efficiency and sustainable production. Mr. Schröder from the Technical University of Dortmund presented the ESSA project in which CIELFFA is involved. As a third expert lecture, Ms. Silvia Selandari from Orgalim spoke about the current challenges in European and worldwide trade policy.
Regarding the BREF-documents Mr. Schönemeyer reported that the revision process is in the final stage and the first draft has been released for comment. The last working group meeting of the European Commission is planned from 30th March to 4th April 2020.
In this Annual Meeting Mr. Rey-Baltar (Arania) was reelected for Cielffa-President.
